Brain type information processing semiconductor integrated circuit

Background

We have researched on “research and prototyping brain type information processing semiconductor integrated circuit” with Professor Motoki in Kumamoto National Institute of Technology.

The research focus on hardware implementation of neural network based on “Sequential Access Method hierarchical pulse neuron”. Its features are “possibility of On Tip Learning”, “possibility of Time Series Data Processing” and “possibility of fast real time processing”. On the other hand, we can’t implement circuits a lot because it has a resource limitation of neural network circuit.

Problem Statement

Setting up implement target device FPGA that has the results of mass production, we want students to derive the most suitable application of brain type information processing semiconductor integrated circuit FPGA. In addition, if possible, we want students to indicate how the market of the application will be.

It is a young company founded in 2013, but a lot of experienced circuit design professionals are working.

Radiodiagnosis in distant place

Background

Nowadays, image diagnosis system is necessary in medical field. Many types of injures or sickness are diagnosed by medical images and medical image analysis is getting popular and important.
Japan is one of top leading countries in medical image analysis and image-diagnosis. In particular, Japan is the world’s largest holder of CT, MRI, but scarce in radiologists.

To compensate the lack of experts in radiology, Y’s Reading is working on developing tele-diagnostic system for radiological images. This system helps radiologists do their work not also in the office, but also whenever they have time.
Meanwhile, Y’s Reading has been developing the system named Y’s CHAIN.
Y’s CHAIN is a tool to help doctors write a medical certificate when they make a diagnose. According to the record provided by Y’s Reading, Y’s CHAIN can reduce the time to complete a medical certificate by 30%.

Give ideas to improve diagnosis system in distant place specifically, besides the system already exist.

Y’s Reading Inc. develops the systems which introduce ICT into medical field actively by utilizing remote image processing system and artificial intelligence (AI). Today, the medical system adopting ICT is widely used at medical and welfare field. Also, Y’s Reading is one of the company which towing IoT and AI business in Kumamoto. As one of their approach, they built a work place, called ‘Socket’, to gather venture company which trying to business with IoT or AI in Kumamoto. Nowadays, they are hosting many events not only for business, but also for the society.
